Mohammed VI Claim Third Place After Penalty Shootout Win Over Aspire
The Moroccan Mohammed VI team claimed third place in the 11th edition of the International Football Cup after defeating Aspire Academy 5-4 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw at the end of regular time in the match held at Mansour Muftah Stadium.
In the first half, Mohammed VI Academy had a relative advantage, attempting several times to score the opening goal, which they finally achieved in the 41st minute. After a cross was deflected by the goalkeeper, player Imrane Dakech converted it into a goal, marking the first score of the match and concluding the first half.
In the second half, Aspire Academy applied pressure and created multiple chances, eventually equalizing in the final moments. Following a corner kick delivered into the box, substitute Adham Adnan scored in the 80+2 minute to level the match.The Moroccan team ultimately won the match 5-4 on penalties to secure third place in the tournament, while Aspire settled for fourth place.
Mr. Talal Mohammed Al-Kaabi, Executive Director of National Teams at the Qatar Football Association, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Abbasi, Executive Director of Competitions and Football Development at the Qatar Stars League, awarded the trophies to both teams. Mohammed VI, finishing third, received $20,000, while Aspire Academy, in fourth place, earned $15,000.
